Being a part of the Authenticity group was exactly what I needed to help me see where I am in my life, why I am there, where I want to go, why I want to go there, and how do I get there. These are the questions for which many of us search the answers. The Authenticity course hasn't "given" me any answers, instead it has shown the light on the best paths to find my own answers. CS
I appreciated how you referenced research and then discussed and had us practice exercises that demonstrated the direct usefulness of this to us in our lives. LD

I call many of the highly sensitive women I have met “Modern Mystics”. Modern mystics are often spiritual rather than religious, feel deeply connected with other people, animals and nature. Their thought processes and feeling states are deeper than those of most people.
HSP abhor violence, may become overwhelmed in crowded spaces, often need time alone, and are often contemplative. For many HSP (myself included) tags on clothing are torture and must be cut out. For many the long ‘to do’ lists with limited time is very stressful. Some find change unsettling. Some are more sensitive to pain and discomfort. Some are especially sensitive to caffeine or alcohol. Most have a rich imagination and inner life Many have felt misunderstood at some point in their lives.
If you are an HSP you are probably conscientious, perceptive and moved by beauty.
Some of the best music, books and art were created by an HSP.
They make wonderful, compassionate leaders.
You can develop strategies and skills to deal with overwhelm, exhaustion and burn out.
If you are an HSP, you are highly aware of the needs of others and likely make a good friend, therapist, pastor, artist, musician or writer.
What results can I expect from being in group?
Each person may have specific goals for themselves. It will be one of the first things we will address.
There will likely be a number of results. Feel more confident in your sensitivities and the gifts they bring, trust your intuition, release any unconscious shame or embarrassment at being different, learn and practice a number of exercises that will calm your fight, flight, freeze response, connect and relate to other sensitives/empaths (the gifts can show up differently), experience fulfillment in supporting others on their journey. In addition, any current challenges in your life or relationships can be addressed in the group so that your responses to the issue provide the outcome you want.
We will address many themes that often show up as challenges including ‘commitment’ and the ‘impulse to help others’ which may be challenging.
In addition, the elder members of the group fulfill a developmental task of generativity leading to greater mental health. Generativity includes teaching, influencing and supporting younger generations.
Besides all that, we will laugh and have fun together.
Is HSP a diagnosis or disorder?
No, it is simply a difference.
As an HSP do I need to avoid life?
No, you can learn to quickly ground yourself, calm your central nervous system in order to fully show up in your life.
Am I being too sensitive?
You are who you are, in part because of brain formation. Because of your difference you have many social and spiritual gifts.
3/13/19 When I read of a death, as I just did, I feel grief throughout my body, even when I do not know the person. Today we had a huge storm in Colorado, a cyclonebomb. I went to the news on my phone to see if the storm had moved on, it is so much more quiet now, and saw that a state trooper was killed on the highway helping a stranded motorist. My heart went out to him, his family and friends and coworkers. My heart went out to the person who hit him and their family. My heart went out to all the witnesses including the person or people being helped. All of this went through my body, heart and mind within a second with intensity. I am a Highly Sensitive Person. This is the way I live my life. And I am okay with it. In peace, dava
